About the PositionJob Title: Registered Ultrasound Technologist Profession: Radiology / Cardiology Specialty: Ultrasound Tech - General Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 8 hours (08:00 - 16:30) Experience: Minimum of 1 year related experience as a Sonographer License: Current state license Certifications: ARDMS, ARRT, BLS, current CPR Must-Have: Outpatient ultrasound experience Description: The Registered Ultrasound Technologist is responsible and accountable for providing quality imaging of patients. This aids in the diagnosis and continuum of care of patients. The technologist will assist the Radiologist with exams. Education: Graduate of an Ultrasound/Sonography program. Physical demands include the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. The employee must have the ability to solve problems and make decisions. The position requires the ability to stand, walk, bend, squat, and twist. Occasionally, the employee must lift, push, and pull up to 100 pounds using proper body mechanics. The role requires spending eight hours or more performing Sonography exams in various settings. A keen sense of hearing and visual acuity is necessary. The technologist must handle critical and highly stressful situations with efficiency and composure. This is a position in a hospital setting open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The candidate is required to participate in on-call rotation and must respond to call within a specified timeframe. Daily responsibilities include performing ultrasound exams for various patient age groups. The average daily census within the Radiology department is 350, with approximately 40 visits per day. The ultrasound unit is equipped with three rooms for examinations. Interdisciplinary support includes Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, and other support teams. The patient diagnoses vary significantly, and special procedures include ultrasound-guided biopsies and paracentesis. The ultrasound equipment used is of high quality and appropriate for the diverse patient populations served.
